SafePet Ontario is a provincial wide initiative dedicated to assist those fleeing violence with their pets. The SafePet program has been built by volunteers within our community, and is a communities response to ending violence.

The reality is that many individuals leaving abusive situations have very few options for staying together with their pet. Since the vast majority of shelters are unable to house pets onsite, these individuals turn to us to help find a solution; if we can’t, they are forced to give up their pet in order to find protection for themselves.

Many victims delay leaving, or do not leave at all, as they are terrified of leaving their beloved pet behind in the abusive environment. We look to eliminate this concern for the client by safely placing their pet while they relocate to a safe environment themselves.

We’re aiming to expand upon the SafePet network to help get people and pets to safety sooner.
